I lean to the art side of photography. On this site there are hundreds of photographs, families, couples, lifestyle photos, portraits—they speak for me. They show you my style in composition, framing, light, and color. But artistic photography aside, can you tell the fun I’ve had in three decades of photo shoots? Fun on shoots is really what drives me. It’s what you get when you choose me as your Kauai photographer. Now for the boring stuff! I shoot full frame, high resolution digital. I curate the photos, and photofinish with enhancements that include color correction, illumination balancing, highlight and shadow adjustments, removal of clutter such as unwanted beachgoers, parasols, driftwood, and many other enhancements. Here’s one important tidbit: I don’t bring with me a makeup or wardrobe person. You are responsible for your makeup, hair, and wardrobe. Here is a list of what’s included, what’s not. Sometimes things just fall into place. But as in life, adding direction into the equation more often than not makes things better. I’m a longtime professional photographer Kauai based doing photography on Kauai since 2010. I strive to make every photoshoot fresh and original, like an actor who goes on stage every night who never does the lines the same way. Creative compositions, framing, light and color is part and parcel of my being. Luckily, I’m aided by the topography. The beaches are forever changing, new sand berms rise along the shoreline that weren’t there a week ago, fresh vegetation forms after the rains. My eye is always on the hunt for natural frames—just one of the things I’m doing on your photoshoot. A curated photo set with photofinishing that includes:
Color correction.
Illumination balancing: making sure all people in the photographs are properly illuminated.
Highlight and shadow adjustments.
Horizon adjustments when necessary.
Cropping if appropriate.
Removal of unwanted beachgoers, parasols, tents, surfers, driftwood, etc.
A private photo gallery from where you can view, share, and download.
The photofinishing for your photos includes many enhancements over images straight from the camera; it does not include retouching. If you want retouching, the add-on is $150. This will include 5 retouched photos. Common changes are thinner arms or legs, removing sunburn or tan lines, fixing pimples or acne, or a wardrobe malfunction that might be ruining your favorite photo. Some requested changes might not be feasible.
If you don’t select “Retouching” and you want changes, I will fix 1–3 photos at no charge. Then the fee is $40 per photo.
• Permit: If we do the session on a beach, the permit is $20. All beaches in Hawaii are state-owned, with a law that prohibits commercial activity without an individualized permit. I will obtain your permit.
• GET: In the state of Hawaii, it is 4.5%.
• All photos taken are not included. I do my best to edit the very best photos from your session.
• Retouching is not included.
• RAW files are not included.
