Surprise photoshoot methods
Propose during a planned photoshoot. A regular meet-and-greet photo shoot does not hinder the proposal surprise. The shoot commences as normal as a regular couples session. A glance from me saying ‘go time” is all it takes. It’s also less money this way.
Paparazzi-style. You’re just strolling along the beach with your partner, when you go down on a knee at the selected spot, where your Kauai photographer (me) just so happen to be standing nearby (or sitting) ready to capture the moment. If this sounds like the best option, it might very well be, but just know that your partner, who doesn’t have a clue that you’re going to propose, might decide to to stop off at a shave ice stand before hitting the beach, or walk a different direction along the beach. So the proposal appointment that you’ve arranged with me can easily become sort of meaningless, and if it’s a sunset, well that just might have been blown! The paparazzi style proposal can also run into other issues, such as multiple photographers on the beach causing confusion for you, or a family already lounging at the planned spot. While the paparazzi style might go off without a hitch, it might not, and while you might think the surprise must be better this way, statistics say otherwise. The paparazzi method is also quite a bit more expensive, for the reasons just stated.
Hybrid medium proposal (video and photography. Having a high energy video to complement the surprise proposal photos completely grabs the celebration and captures the full emotion so that not only can you relive it back home anytime you want, your family and friends can see it too. Nothing beats this!
